Now, let’s get stuck into this…
What I’m going to take you through right now is what one of my mentors taught me.
The information I am going to share with you literally transformed my fitness business.
It wasn’t just my business that transformed though, it was the lifestyle that allowed me and my family to live.
If my mentor never taught me this, who knows where I would be right now.
I can’t overestimate what a profound positive impact what I am about to share with you had on my life.
You might be wondering…
“Chris, what is it? What did your mentor teach you?”
One of the big things that my mentor taught me was something called the success curve.
Now, don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the name.
There are 3 parts to this and if you can implement all 3 successfully, you’ll be ahead of 99% of fitness professionals.
Heck, you’ll be ahead of 99% of business owners…it’s that powerful.
This is one of the key reasons why I see so many fitness businesses struggling.
It is because they simply do not have this knowledge.
And this is something that is so critically important!
This is an absolute game-changer.
I have been lucky enough to work with 100’s of fitness businesses over the years…
And, let me tell you…there are some BIG differences between the fitness businesses that thrive and the ones that don’t.
A lot of people make the assumption that success is in a straight line…
When in reality, it’s nothing like that.
However, by implementing what I am about to share with you in this post, you can absolutely short cut the time it takes to be build a wildly profitable fitness business that gives you the income and lifestyle you truly want.
One big mistake I see fitness business owners making is that they do not have a long-term game plan or goal.
They get stuck in the day to day actions of running their business.
Sure, they may look busy, but if you asked them what are their business goals over the next 90 days.
Or what steps they are you taking within the next 90 days to get to move them closer to their goals.
You’ll often get a blank look from them…
Now, if you’re also unsure, do not worry, that’s what I’m here for.
Back when I first started out, I didn’t have a clue what I was doing.
I had to get a mentor to help me and I want to share some of those key lessons with you today.
Here at the Coaches Cartel, we use something to strategically diagnose exactly what someone should be working on.
Imagine a doctor diagnosing a patient.
They find the problem and immediately go to work on that and get it fixed.
That’s one of the things we do at the Coaches Cartel.
However, one of the biggest problems I see fitness professionals making is that they do not know how to diagnose their own business.
In short, they simply do not know what is broken.
Or, more importantly, they don’t have a clue how to fix it.
There are literally a million different things you could do to try and grow your business.
However, there are only a few things that truly move the needle and give you the most bang for your buck.
Wouldn’t it just be easier to focus all your time and energy on those small things that truly have the greatest impact?
Yes, it would 😉.
You’ve likely heard of the 80/20 Pareto principle before…
Where 20% of your efforts lead to 80% of your results.
Let me tell you from years and years of helping 100’s of fitness businesses generate 6 and 7 figures that this is certainly true.
Focusing on the critical few things that really move the needle and ignoring the rest is one of the keys behind fitness businesses that thrive and those businesses that don’t.
What I want to talk about next is essentially what does it take to go from a standing start to building a 6 figure/multiple 6 figure business or even a 7 figure business.
Essentially, there are stages that the business must go through to reach these mile stones.
In fact, me and my team have broken down this into 4 stages.
What’s more, within each of these stages, there are very specific things you need to do to keep the business growing.
In short, this process will diagnose two key questions.
1- Where are you right now? What stage are you at?
2- What activities do you need to work on right now based on where you are at to take your business to the next level?
What we typically do with our students is break their business up into 4 parts…
Here are the 4 parts and a brief checklist of what you should be focusing on at each part of the process.
Ignition– This is typically $0-6,000 per month.
Acceleration– This is $6,000-25,000 per month.
-Paid and organic traffic
Domination– This is $25,000 per month- 1,000,000 a year.
Once again, when we know where you are, we can then provide you with the exact steps you need to be focusing on to grow your business and take your business to the next level.
In short, you need to be doing the right things at the right stages to grow your business successfully.
That’s what will move you up the success curve.
Next, I want to share with you the time frames to be able to build this out.
I will be honest with you; you need to be thinking long term and big picture if you truly want to build something great.
Here’s the real deal.
This is NOT an overnight fix.
Just like when your client wants to lose two stone in a week…
It’s just not going to happen.
However, I have noticed there is a new breed of fitness business gurus who are promising results overnight.
I can help you get you to where you want to be much faster than you probably first imagined.
However, this is certainly not “get rich quick”.
See below the timeframes for what is needed at different points to grow your fitness business.
The first 90 days is all about building the on-ramp process, which is basically the foundation of your business.
Next, we look at the initial sales system and delivery system. These are our top priorities during the first 90 days.
Something you will notice here is the word “system”.
This is critical!
These systems need to be watertight. These systems need to be replicable over and over again.
The reason why is that these systems are what give you a lot of stability in your business.
-Lead generation system
In the first 180 days, we need to make sure that your foundation is completed, which means your lead generation system is in place, your sales system is in place and then your signature system is complete.
Once again, notice the word “system” gets repeated over and over again.
This is what makes your results predictable and reliable, which is critical as you start to scale your business.
What’s more, when you hire staff to delegate you need a repeatable system they can use.
You cannot do all the work here. You must have systems in place.
Another thing to consider at this point is whether you need to start bringing on staff members or automating certain parts of the business.
Or, at least improving the processes so that you are doing everything as efficiently as possible.
12 months (Acceleration phase)
-Lead generation in place
-Sales machine in place
At this stage, we have all of the systems that were implemented at the 90 and 180-day mark.
However, at this stage, we are focused more on scaling our systems and implementing more team members.
Again, you must have systems in place for new staff members to come on board so they can operate the systems.
We are looking to start scaling your team members at this stage.
Next, we can then look at the domination phase which is next 😊.
3 year (Domination)
-Multiple income streams
-Team + leverage
-Long term wealth
Finally, we have the domination phase to implement.
This is where we look to implement multiple income streams, because you don’t want to rely on just one.
Multiple income streams mean that you have leverage. You are stepping out and you’re being the business owner and entrepreneur.
You are making sure that you’re building long term wealth.
This is a discussion I love being able to get to when it becomes the right time.
Something that is important to realise is that ultimately we want to be able to generate money in our business and have it work for us long term.
Next, I want to discuss the final model that my mentor taught me which is this…
Just like the other models, the purpose of it is to diagnose where the problems are in your business, so that you can get to work to fix them as soon as possible.
Notice that we have 3 key frameworks in place.
And then around that, we have 9 accelerators which are listed in the image above.
Now, to diagnose your business, we use a traffic light system to make this super simple for you.
It’s a great way to analyse your business.
Here’s how it works:
If something is red, that means it is not in place just yet.
If something is orange, you have this in place, but it is not working right now, or it hasn’t been optimised properly.
Finally, if it is green it means that it is in place and that it is working well.
By using the traffic light system is gives you the business owner a very clear framework of exactly what is working right now and more importantly what isn’t working right now.
Then, you can take the necessary action steps to improve and optimise those weaker areas of the business.
For example, if something is red, we need to get something in place immediately. If something is orange, we need to optimise this further and if something is green we need to keep tracking it and make sure it continues to perform.
Finally, to conclude this blog, here are our 5 drivers that when combined together determine the success of your business.
Then, you can diagnose how effective the above are using the below frameworks…
So, every 90 days you know exactly what you should be working on.
One thing to keep in mind is that you will never have all 5 as a superpower. That’s not necessarily the goal anyway.
What you will typically find is that you will be strong is certain areas and weaker in other areas.
That, therefore, means we just need to spend more working on those weaknesses.
That’s why this is so powerful because we are diagnosing exactly what our weaknesses are every 90 days and then putting in place specific actions every 90 days to work on the weaknesses.
Also, what you want to be doing every 90 days is re-measuring this, so that the following 90 days is completely custom to where you are right now.
Therefore, you are constantly going through these 90-day cycle where you are diagnosing your business and then you can see exactly what you should be focusing on over the next 90 days.
Just think about it, when working with your clients you would never not re-measure their weight or body fat percentage etc.
You do this constantly so that you know exactly what changes to make going forwards with your clients.
And, that is exactly what you need to be doing for your business.
However, very few people or businesses do this.
Let me tell you this…
I work with a lot of fitness businesses and it’s the ones who implement this who get amazing results and the ones who don’t, simply just stay stuck forever.
As I mentioned at the start of this blog, these simple processes have literally changed my business and my life.
Because most people (including myself in the past) don’t know exactly what they should be doing to grow their business.
These frameworks make it super simple to see exactly what is working and what is not.
Then, we can implement a plan of exactly what to focus on to FIX what is not working.
The best part about these processes is as your business evolves, the things you need to focus on to continue to evolve, too.
These systems highlight these for you, so there is no guesswork.
Now you have got this far, you can run and implement this stuff on your own.
